The elf standing behind Eska was referring, of course, to the many exotic animals on display in their cages all along the storefront. That was, exotic to the human and most of the passing customers. She was familiar with them, and she was, clearly, not impressed. One of the first things some of the more entrepreneurial drow had realized when they'd come to the New City was that their livestock and vermin (though for the drow, who put the 'omni' in 'omnivorous', there was barely any distinction between the two) were strange and unfamiliar to the other races that flocked there and that there was good money to be made selling them as pets, display animals, or for 'medicinal properties' that the immortal elves wouldn't have any reason to know about even if they did exist.

...though when the girl airing that opinion seemed to be wearing a giant spider on her back and shoulders like some sort of living, fuzzy backpack, the relevance of her viewpoint on pets to anyone else might be questionable.
