Setting: A forest in between towns, in the middle of the night
Alba awakens to the memory of Ross' (... or should it be Creasion's?) disappearance.
It was all crisp and clear to him still; the way the sun beat down on them, the way the wind picked up bits of sand and got it into his mouth whenever he so much as opened it, and that smile... oh god, that smile. It was the first time Alba's ever seen the soldier give him something so pure and genuine, and whenever his mind returned to it, Alba's chest began to ache.
He rubbed his tired eyes; it's still a long ways away until sunrise, the fire he had set up continuing to dance brilliantly in front of him. This was becoming a problem, these nightmares that plagued him. Granted, they weren't anything serious, but if he continued to have sleepless nights like this, he was gonna end up being monster fodder.
"If I could, just one more time..." He murmured, staring into the flames for a moment before pulling his blanket closer; closing his eyes as the night's bitter chill nipped at his nose. He needed to sleep if he wanted to make it to the city by nightfall the next day, but with his head bustling about like this there was no way he was going to fall asleep anytime soon.
Suddenly, he heard a rustling in the distance. Huh. The fire should be keeping the monsters and animals away. Could it be one of the twelve demons? He swallowed, shoving his blanket to the side as he quietly picked his sword up.
"... H... Hello?" He spoke into the darkness, knees trembling.

My apologies, I'm still new to dreamwidth roleplaying and trying to learn. Feel free to let me know if there's something I should correct or improve on. Thank you for your patience!]]
Alba yelped at the sudden appearance of his new visitor, tripping on the blanket he had hastily thrown away earlier and falling on his butt.
"W-wha!?" The young hero stared at the man as he casually dusted himself off, incredulous. "You do realize that-- that thing is about to attack you, right? Why the heck are you so calm about this!?"
Just as those words left his mouth the beast set itself in motion again, and all Alba could do was throw his arms in front of him and pretend that that would be sufficient enough protection.

Well, this wasn't good. Dante may have been able to divert the direction of whatever this monster was away from Alba while he was asleep, but now he was awake, making noise, and not doing a very good job of making himself look threatening. Now someone could get hurt if Dante keeps fooling around, and dammit, Dante was enjoying this little diversion.
"I was aware, but thanks for the distracting bit of chit-chat."He completely ignores Alba and charges forward; he doesn't have anywhere near the body weight to stop something the size of a boar, but he can at least divert it away from the fire and the kid.
He seizes one of the creature's... ears? and pushes with his side as hard as he can, forcing the monster out of the kid's path before he's pulled along the rampaging beast's new path. Perfect. Now he just has to put his sword through this creature's throat, and-
Oh wait, he forgot to pick his sword back up. Whoops.
"HEY KID!" This time, Dante managed to make himself heard above the stamping of hooves. "You got something to kill this thing with, or am I going to have to do everything myself?"

Alba watched the strange man tackle the creature from behind the safety of his arms, completely ignoring the sarcastic comment he made. Instead of doing anything to help his awfully loud and messy "visitor," Alba simply sat there in a daze, on the verge of panic.
He was supposed to be used to fighting monsters by now. What the heck. Why couldn't he just get up!?
When Dante's booming voice reached his ears, Alba snapped out of it; quickly lowering his arms to find something that could be of use to kill the monster.
Ah-- what could-- ah, right! His sword! He quickly tossed the thing towards Dante, scabbard and all, yelling "Here!" with all his might.

Dante was supposed to be good at this whole thing too, but he knows what's wrong; he got cocky, again, and let his guard down, again. It wouldn't really matter if had been alone, but now he's gone and embarrassed himself. Oh well, a kill's a kill, even if he slipped up and had to get help.
He wasn't sure if the kid's sword would handle slicing the monster in half, so he kept it safe and stabbed the beast in the closest soft spot he could find. It was too hectic to see if that actually killed it, but he heard a shriek and was knocked to the ground, so there's no way he didn't at least gravely injure the beast.

As the beast thrashed about over its injury, Alba crawled backwards. He wasn't much use in a fight (the learning curve, he found, was getting steeper with every swing of the sword), much less weaponless. As much as he wanted to help the strange man in this battle he was sure that he was only going to get in the way.
Suddenly, without warning, despite the near-fatal wound the creature sloppily got back up and postured. For a second, it looked like it was about to attack Dante with the last of its strength.
"L-look out!" Alba screamed.

That being said, he wasn't stupid enough to assume that the monster was dead, but it had more strength than he expected. He managed to yank the sword back out of the beast, but it knocked him aside before he had a chance to deliver the finishing blow, sending the sword a few feet to the left of Alba.
