Echo | Dollhouse - Multiple choice! (canon point is during s2e7)
(A)
You are a client of the Dollhouse and you've chosen Echo to be your own personal... what? Student? Date? Maid? Rocket scientist? All of the above? You choose the "fantasy" and Echo will be it.
(B)
You work FOR the Dollhouse as a handler or one of the oh so kind staff members who work hard to make sure the Actives stay as healthy and content as always. Or maybe you're another Active. Echo is between engagements for the moment but she seems to be acting a little differently than normal. She seems more aware. She's saying things the other Actives don't understand. What do you do?
(C)
Echo enjoyed being free - both mentally and physically. Her mind may be crowded but at least she was aware of it. It was a significant improvement on the wiped state she'd been living in before the changes started. She took a deep breath of fresh air, determined to enjoy one of her last days of peace before they returned to the Dollhouse. They had a lot of work to do but that didn't mean she wasn't going to enjoy life a little.
She stopped at a local florist, leaning down to give the roses a sniff. Smiling, she touched the petals with her fingertips for a moment before straightening to continue down the sidewalk. Unfortunately she'd let herself get so distracted by the flowers that she got careless. When she turned she ran right into someone walking behind her.
She fumbled, trying to hold onto them to keep them both upright. With a laugh she smiled sheepishly, "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there."

Things had changed.
Moved on. He'd grown a little bit more wary. Found himself living with a lot more than he had been. At first he hadn't realised he was doing it. Keeping a closer watch on those three. Ivy had pointed it out. To that he'd been his usual self in dismissing her by giving her a list for restocking the fridge in the corner along with finding out was for lunch that day. He'd done that again to her earlier.
He moved from where he was stood by the window to go climb over the back of the sofa and up the railing to get to his desk picking up the rubix cube on the way that he'd left there. Something he'd solved countless times over but it was just something to keep his hands busy as he checked the computers over, making sure the actives out were still okay. None of the handlers had called in with anything so it was more a distraction than anything. Topher checked there were no messages for him either and peered over the top of the screen again to see who was down there.
Setting the completed cube down he spotted those three again, the scientist wished he could just let them be so he was able to observe them more see what could happen if they were just left. See what would be learned. But Adelle wouldn't let him have that as an option. Too many things to go wrong as much as he hoped she might like to indulge him a little more than she really should. He did consider himself her number one son after all.
Topher stood a little longer watching before he headed down under the idea he would head to Dr Saunders office to go through the files in there for anything noted with other actives.

She was still trying to work out what was going on. Who she was and how she was going to free everyone in the Dollhouse but she noticed things. Things like Adelle spending less and less time down in the House. Like the handlers watching her like they were afraid of her. Like Topher and his concern for each and every active in the House - even if he wasn't about to admit it, himself.
When she saw him come down the stairs she began moving in his direction. She wasn't sure why but if he was looking for something maybe she could help. Her bare feet padded silently across the hardwood floor as she approached the office. She reached the doorway and stood there for a moment as he moved for Dr. Saunder's files. She smiled pleasantly and tilted her head slightly as she watched him.
"Hello."

He reached for one of the files just as he pulled it free from the shelf he heard the voice behind him. The file narrowly avoided being thrown into the air and scattered to the floor. Topher pinned it to him, hugging it.
"Jeeze, Echo." Topher tried get his heart rate back to something a little more reasonable. "I'm going to get you a bell." He told her. Though there was a hint of a smile. If it had to be anyone to make him jump he was glad it was her.
"What are you doing in here?"

sorry, couldn't resist.
The media have been intrusive, honestly, but his entire life has prepared him for a public identity. It's too early to say, but his career might not peak at Congress. He's had no shortage of support and he lauds the dedication of the people around him. Cindy knew he could achieve these things, and he will. He can't achieve them with her, but he can achieve them for her.
He could delegate the responsibility of buying flowers for the grave, but he's not that impersonal. He's the only one who knows what his wife would've liked. And it's not an excuse to be alone, by any means, but it's a rare opportunity. His attaché is willing to give him a few hours uninterrupted where family matters are concerned.
He steps out of the florist's and starts walking, only for a woman to turn ahead of him. They collide, and he reaches out a steadying hand just as she tries to stabilize him. He's careful not to crush the flowers, but keeping both of them on their feet is the priority.
He manages, "Are you all right?" before he recognizes her face. When he does, his expression cycles quickly through confusion and anger and settles on a sort of mild frustration. He remembers a heavily edited version of events: waking up with her in that hotel room, and the scent of her perfume on his shirt.
Unflattering as the comparison is, she reminds him of a small scar on the back of his neck. He can't recall where it came from and similarly, he can't place her. He doesn't understand her, but she's very real for him. There's no other word for it.
"Bree?"
AHAHA I love it
She resists the urge to shove the man away from her and take off running, to escape the situation entirely. Other personalities have suggestions of what to do... and where to hide the body afterwards. But he's just as much a victim as she is. He fought in his own way and she knows that when the time comes he deserves freedom just as much as the rest of them do.
She lets go of his arms, taking a step back to put a little distance between the two of them as she shakes her head, "No. No you must be mistaking me for someone else, I'm sorry."

Victor can swim more laps in the pool than she can. Sometimes they start swimming at the same time, and when she gets tired, she climbs out and sits and watches him until he's done. It makes her feel warm.
Victor went for a treatment. Sierra is painting a picture of a bird. Echo is painting too, but at the same time, asking questions. The questions make Sierra tired, like running and swimming, but in a different way. She has to think very hard. Echo asks if what's best can be different, or if best is always the same.
"If we're together, that's best."

She nods, "Victor likes you. You two should be together."

Sierra can't really understand that Echo has a plan, or a reason for being different, but she knows what it looks like when someone is trying very hard to do something. She wants to help Echo. That's what Victor wants too. They can do that together, she hopes.
"We want to help you. Friends help each other out."

She knows she's going to need both of them when she frees the Dollhouse. She doesn't know how or when, yet, but somehow they will free everyone. And she wants to see them happy together when it happens.
